RAM Trucks Earn 2020 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award
The MotorWeek Driver Awards
Every year for the last 39 years, the MotorWeek TV show has paused halfway through its current season to take the time to evaluate the best cars and trucks of that particular year from potential buyers. It certainly is a major task as there are now no less than 16 different categories for the team to evaluate and judge.
Some of the hottest categories at the moment include the Best Eco-Friendly and Best Small, Midsize, Large and Luxury Utility categories, but the one that probably means the most right now has to be Best Pickup Truck.
To arrive at the eventual winners, the team at MotorWeek takes into consideration a wide variety of factors, which include things like current purchasing trends, innovations, value and reliability. The reasoning behind these particular awards is to compile a practical and comprehensive buyer's guide for anyone looking to buy a new car or truck.
Drivers' Choice Pickup Award
The Ram brand is no stranger to this award though, of course. Last year, MotorWeek gave this same award to the Ram 1500 on its own, but this time the brand has gone even further with its Heavy Duty 2500 and 3500 models coming to join the party.
MotorWeek creator and host, John Davies, explains, "Competent, hard-working pickup trucks that also have all the comfort and amenities you desire are speaking our language, and it all comes down to one name … Ram. He went on to add, "We picked the Ram 1500 as our Drivers' Choice Pickup Truck last year, for all those reasons, on top of that the newly added EcoDiesel, and finish it off with the new smooth-riding Ram Heavy Duty with up to 1,000 pounds of torque - so it's Ram two years in a row. No pickup truck lineup understands us and our wants better than Ram."
About the winners
Some factors combined this year to make the Ram trucks lineup the strongest it's ever been. That all-new V-6 EcoDiesel was added to the 2020 Ram 1500 range for the 2020 model year, which now allows the 1500 to boast a class-best diesel torque rating of 480 lb.-ft. and a maximum towing capability of 12,560 pounds. Of course, Ram was also the first major truck brand to introduce mild-hybrid technology, so it does have all the bases covered for the moment.
The Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups fuse extreme performance and towing capability with the greatest levels of refinement and operator comfort features in the segment. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty trucks can offer towing capacities of up to 35,100 pounds and a maximum payload of 7,680 pounds.
