Introducing the All-New 2020 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid

Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid

When Chrysler brought us the Pacifica in place of the Town & Country for the 2017 model year it really did set a new standard in the minivan segment with the first hybrid minivan, and probably breathed new life into the segment as a whole. As the Pacifica enters its fourth model year for 2020, the manufacturer has done a bit of sprucing-up to keep things fresh with the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid. Let's take a closer look at what you can now expect when you go to check out a new 2020 Chrysler Pacifica or 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

Changes for 2020

Chrysler did a very good job of making the minivan desirable when it brought us the Pacifica, and for 2020 the automaker is doubling down on that with the introduction of a new S Appearance Package for its popular family minivan. The package will be available for the Limited trim and includes Rodèo Red Nappa leather seats with Light Diesel Grey stitching and piping, Silver Metal Brush hydro bezels on the instrument panel and the door trim. It also includes 20-inch alloy wheels, or 18-inch if it's the Pacifica Hybrid, Advanced SafetyTec, a 20-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system and KeySense. Uconnect Theater, eight-passenger seating and trailer tow are included with Pacifica models, while Pacifica Hybrids get Uconnect Theater and a tri-pane panoramic sunroof.

Other changes for 2020 include the honeycomb grille pattern now becomes standard on the Pacifica, the dual-pane panoramic sunroof is now available for all gas-powered, eight-seat Pacifica models for the first time and a few other minor changes to standard features and equipment.

Engines

A hybrid minivan might still be something of a novelty, but we shouldn't overlook just how good the non-hybrid Pacifica's engine is. The powerplant is a tried-and-trusted 3.6-litre V-6 that puts out 287 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sent to the front wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Pacifica Hybrid utilizes an Atkinson cycle version of the same V-6 engine and a 16-kWh battery, which is good for an all-electric range of up to 30 miles and a total range in excess of 500 miles on a full tank and battery.

Interior

Although there are a few styling tweaks and some changes to the features and equipment available, the interior of the 2020 Pacifica will still be much like the current model. That's certainly not a bad thing though as the Pacifica is the epitome of spaciousness, versatility, practicality and comfort. Chrysler is reintroducing the Voyager name for entry-level versions of the Pacifica in the US, but we probably won't see those in Canada for a while yet - possibly not until next year or even 2021. Even so, there's no other way a family of up to eight people can get around in such style and such comfort for such a reasonable amount of money as Chrysler asks for the Pacifica.
